WordPress site for talks and courses

Liechtenstein.dk

A WordPress site for AI talks, courses and workshops. Built around format rather than a topic list, with duration and audience as structured fields, a bespoke theme and no page builder.

Liechtenstein.dk is a WordPress site for a talks and courses business working with AI. It has one job to do well: take an organiser from "we are considering something on AI" to a concrete enquiry — without having to guess at duration, audience, or whether the content suits the participants.

A dark, typographic front page: the position first, then the two routes an organiser can take.

The same page on a phone, where a good deal of programme planning actually happens.

Format before topic

Most speaker sites are built as a list of topics. But an organiser usually has the frame settled before the subject: there is an hour and a half at a staff meeting, a theme day, or a full course day. The topic is negotiable — the calendar is not.

So the site is built around format. Talks, courses and workshops are three separate sections with their own overviews, and the subjects sit across them as themes. You choose the frame first and the content second. For anyone without the frame settled, there is a guided route to the right format rather than a list to interpret on your own.

The content model

The three formats are three separate content types in WordPress, not pages or categories. Each talk carries structured fields for duration, audience, format, outcomes and agenda — as data rather than as prose buried in a paragraph.

That is what makes the rest possible. A talk is maintained in one place and appears from there on the front page, in the overview and under its themes. When the duration changes, it changes everywhere — instead of needing edits in four places by someone who remembers all of them.

Themes are a single shared taxonomy across all three formats and the articles. So "AI agents" gathers the talk, the course and the articles belonging to the same subject without hand-maintained lists — and a reader arriving on an article from a search can move straight on to the talk that subject belongs to.

An editorial look rather than a stock theme

The site has its own theme: dark, typographic and calm, with a serif headline, a muted gold accent and a portrait carrying the front page. It is a deliberate break from the light, icon-driven consultancy template, because the product here is a person on a stage.

There is no page builder, and the front page loads not a single plugin asset. The layout comes from the theme's own components, which keeps the markup light, the pages fast and the typography consistent everywhere — rather than depending on whoever edited the page last. It also keeps both the attack surface and the maintenance down.

The route to an enquiry

The enquiry is split into three short steps rather than one long form: format, a few details about the event, and how to reach you. The fields are the ones actually needed to answer with a concrete proposal instead of another round of questions — occasion, participants, timing and location.

Operations

The site runs on the isolated hosting platform I operate: its own Linux user, its own PHP-FPM pool with resource limits, its own database and its own certificate. One site cannot affect its neighbours, and wp-config cannot be read by the web server.

The site is my own. The speaking side of my business has its own address and its own look, because it speaks to quite different people than the development work does.
