Pouls Vigs Bådelaug runs a marina on Karrebæk Fjord with 133 berths at the floating dock and 14 pile moorings. The association needed a website that could do two things at once: welcome visiting sailors and work as the members’ everyday noticeboard.

The solution is built in WordPress with a structure matching how a boat club actually works — and one the board can keep updated without technical help.

Two audiences, one front page

A sailor considering a visit needs something entirely different from a member looking for the minutes of the last general meeting. The front page solves both: a large photo of the harbour and a clear welcome for visitors, with approach conditions, water depth, and the channel described precisely — alongside a news column where the board posts work weekends, summer parties, and practical messages.

Contact details and the harbour master’s phone number sit permanently at the top, available from any page. It sounds trivial, but for a harbour it is often the single most important piece of information.

Structure that matches the association’s reality

Content is organised around what people actually look for:

• The harbour with rules, statutes, prices, and information for new members
• A dedicated page for visiting sailors covering approach and facilities
• The board with contacts and meeting minutes
• Events, so members can see what is happening during the season
• Weather, because it is the first thing a sailor checks

Every section can be edited by the board itself. No technical knowledge is required to post news or update a price — which matters in a volunteer association where roles change hands.

Built to survive a change of board
